Cylinder blast shatters Karama peace
DUBAI — A cylinder blast shattered the peace and calm of Karama this morning.
Residents living in the area behind the Day to Day supermarket were jolted out of their weekend slumber by a loud noise brought about by an explosion reportedly caused by a reaction, between pest control chemicals and cooking gas.
Such was the impact of the blast which occurred in the second floor apartment that it shattered windows and sent shards of glass flying into the street.
According to locals who had gathered around at the scene of the accident, three members of the Filipino family living in the apartment have been treated for minor injuries and others for breathing-related disorders.
The Dubai Civil Defence officials, backed by an armada of firebrigades and ambulances were quick to reach the spot and were administering all the assistance possible.
