The Kuwaiti student is accused of intentionally murdering an Emirati national by stabbing him four times on November 10 last year. He had earlier pleaded not guilty.
Recently, the Public Prosecution charged the defendant’s sister with having illicit consensual sex with the 35-year-old victim.
The court had earlier called for the testimony of the sister but its demand was not met as the woman is living in Turkey now.
The defendant had earlier told the court that he killed the victim as he thought he was an intruder into his villa in Umm Suqeim. He said he did not know the victim was his sister’s boyfriend. He claimed he only tried to protect himself when he saw a stranger in the villa in the early hours of that day.
As per the court records, the defendant stabbed the victim four times when he caught him trying to leave his house.
An Iranian Hospital surgeon, who treated the Emirati, said during the prosecution interrogation that he tried to revive the victim in vain. “His condition was very bad as he had bled a lot from his abdomen, liver and chest. He died 10 minutes after reaching the hospital,” the witness said.
The victim’s cousin, a police officer, told the court that around 5.30am that day he received a call from the victim who was struggling to breathe.
“He came to me in Jumeirah. He was bleeding and his shirt was soaked in blood.
“He asked me to take him to the hospital as he could not drive anymore.” The witness said that the victim told him that his girlfriend’s brother stabbed him.
The defendant’s 23-year old sister told the interrogators that she had been in a relation with the victim for about a year.
On that fateful night, she received a call from the victim around 1.30am saying that he would come to see her. She thought he was joking but was surprised to see him in front of her room’s door after a while.
She tried to let the victim walk out of the house unnoticed but failed. Her brother was roaming all around the house, especially near her room, as he if he was suspicious of something.
As her boyfriend reached the house’s basement, she heard her brother screaming.
She called the victim on the phone who told her that he had gone out of the villa.
She called him later and came to know that her brother had stabbed him. She called him afterwards who never returned the call.
The medical report of the defendant showed that he suffered from some psychological problems associated with stress.
He told the prosecution interrogators that on that night, he suspected his sister was hiding a pet or a person in the villa as she was behaving weird. She opened and closed her room several times.
He said that he waited near the elevator and as the victim came out, stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
