Cop dies in road accident during emergency call
DUBAI — Two people, including a Dubai Police sergeant, were killed on Thursday in a traffic accident in Al Qusais area here.
The Operation Room of the Dubai Police received a call at 5am about the accident. The police rushed to the site and found a police rescue car driven by the sergeant, a UAE national, and his compatriot colleague, who had been called for an emergency, had jumped the traffic signal and hit a car driven by an Omani national. As a result, the sergeant and the Omani motorist died instantly. Police officers rushed the injured police sergeant to a hospital in a critical condition. Forensic experts and the public prosecutor visited the site and launched an investigation into the accident. The bodies of the victims were referred to the General Department of Forensic medicine. — amira@khaleejtimes.com
