The prime need of the hour

Given the havoc that has been created by this unfortunate COVID 19, Protection of our loved ones at home is the primary concern given the maximum time we spend indoors respecting our government and health experts' advice for social distancing.
Equally, the important concern arises for the loyal essential support office workers who brave themselves to commit to delivering their duties in our office environments hence cleaning and disinfection of germs, viruses, bacteria, superbugs and any infectious probabilities should be performed thoroughly in our dwelling environments.
According to Shabin Sha, a UK Certified Health and Safety practitioner and director of Clairvoyant Facility Management Services recommends to first understand the significance of disinfection cleaning and the measures to adopt.
Disinfection cleaning specifically means "the process of cleaning something, especially with a chemical, in order to destroy bacteria".
Cleaning members should be trained on the use of and provided with personal protection equipment (PPE) - Gloves - Disposable gowns - Closed shoes. If doing procedures that generate splashes (e.g. while washing surfaces), add facial protection with a face shield and impermeable aprons. They should also have access to sufficient disinfectant solutions and other supplies.
If surfaces are dirty, they should be cleaned using a detergent and water prior to disinfection. For disinfection, use EPA-certified products approved by the government authority.
In an office environment where the essential services staffs are expected to work:
- Provide tissues and no-touch disposal receptacles.
- Provide soap and water in the workplace. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser that is at least 70% alcohol. If hands are visibly dirty, soap and water should be chosen over hand sanitiser. Ensure that adequate supplies are maintained.
- Place hand sanitisers in multiple locations to encourage hand hygiene.
- Routinely clean and disinfect all frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, keyboards, telephones, handrails and doorknobs.
- Discourage workers from using other workers' phones, desks, offices, or other work tools and equipment, when possible. If necessary, clean and disinfect them before and after use.
When it comes to homes, Sha advises residents to be mindful of their surroundings and their interactions within it.
"Tabletops, light switches, controllers, keyboard, toilets, faucets and sinks are common touchpoints. In spite of people being aware of the need of gloves and masks at times they forget to wash their hands or use sanitiser before and after entering their homes," he said, adding that every action goes a long way in maintaining safe health. From an infrastructure perspective, air conditioning and water tank maintenance are very important. "AC ducts are prone to the build-up of dirt, grime and bacteria, so we recommend regular AC duct cleaning," Sha added.

From cleaning out filters to ensuring each part is well-operational, AC and tank care guarantee safe living with optimised cooling and ventilation.
- Increase ventilation rates.
- Increase the percentage of outdoor air that circulates into the system.
Manufacturers, project owners and other organisations can either sign up for short-term packages or form an annual maintenance contract (AMC) with a qualified disinfection Service provider that specialises in facilities management.
"If you are in need of a Disinfection or a Deep Cleaning Service, Clairvoyant Facility Management Services serves as a company that understands the challenges facing our customers. We will do our utmost to assist you every step of the way. Prior to beginning any disinfection job, we will perform a no-obligation inspection of your office tower, commercial or residential facilities, meet you and discuss our disinfection plan and provide a detailed estimate of the disinfection work to be performed," he said.
Clairvoyant is enabled with highly trained and experienced technicians that understand the risks involved in the cleanup and disinfection of Coronavirus Covid-19.  "We have the proper equipment, PPE, disinfectants and training to safely and effectively clean and disinfect areas affected and unaffected to ensure safety," Sha said.
Following the government initiative, Clairvoyant's core value is to be at the forefront and offer an emergency response when it comes to security, home maintenance as well as cleaning services. The organisation is directing its focus on increasing the number of booking coordinators and the number of emergency service teams in each area of Dubai to assure all services are catered effectively. For its existing clientele, the organisation initiated revisions in routine maintenance quarterly.
"We have initiated revisions in our current AMC contract by increasing the frequency of cleaning and maintenance and we recommend all other companies and tenants to follow the same. For instance, water tanks were cleaned once in three months, now we do it every 15 to 30 days. Our cleaners have been trained to clean touchpoints every 30 minutes and present tissue boxes and sanitisation liquids in accessible areas," Sha said.
Clairvoyant Facility Management Services is approved by Dubai Municipality, a Corporate Member of BICSc and possesses ISO certifications, alongside stringent health, safety, quality and environment policy (HSQE) in place. It also has an in-house health and safety advisor available for consultation for both existing clients, as well as potential customers.
"We don't necessarily have to have a contract to share good advice. We believe that sharing is caring, hence we share our knowledge and strategies of cleaning and maintenance for offices and other venues with industry colleagues, as well as our clients and the general public," he said.
Clairvoyant Facility Management Services is offering free sterilisation services available at labour room on request to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.
