Civil defence staff prevent major fire
FUJAIRAH — A major disaster was averted at the Fujairah Port area here when Civil Defence personnel rushed in after two cars collided head on, to prevent any fire that could have spread to 60 fuel tanks in the area. Nobody was injured in the accident involving the cars driven by UAE national Khamees Mubarak Saeed and Bangladeshi national Mohammed Abdulla.
The personnel kept the cars cooled with a steady spray of water till the threat of a fire breaking out was averted.
Officials said that the Civil Defence had been tightened in sensitive areas like port and facilities for fuel storage tanks to prevent disasters.
