Sharjah Civil Defense has successfully doused a fire that erupted in a transformer belong to Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) located in Al Majaz 2.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Lt.Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of Civil defense said that the fire erupted at 7:39am. Fire fighter immediately reached the site in five minutes.
They managed to douse the fire in less than one hour and prevented it from spreading to the neighboring residential building.
No causalities have been reported.
Lt. Colonel Al Naqbi added that the site has been handed over to the police for investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
A SEWA official said that power had been disconnected for a little while in the area and was restored immediately after the fire was controlled.
Transformers 1 and 2 were not affected by the fire.
