Auction of car number plates is a big success
DUBAI — Customised number plates auction is a big success going by the number of bidders who turn up regularly.
It’s a rewarding business for many who find in the car numbers a high financial benefit over its actual value, says Brigadier Engineer Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Director of the Traffic Department.
On Wednesday, 63 three and four digits car numbers (code E) will be auctioned at the Al Barsha traffic department. Twelve three digit car numbers — 161, 181, 262, 292, 313, 434, 484, 616, 646, 838, 848, and 959 — with a start value Dh80,000 each will be sold and a heated bidding session is expected."
Nine car numbers— 1010, 2020, 3030, 4040, 5050, 6060, 7070, 8080,9090 — with a start value of Dh40,000 will also go under the hammer as also the numbers 1133, 2211, 3344, 4422, 5566, 6644, 7733, 8833, 9922, and 9966 with a start bid of Dh20,000 each.
Another 24 customised car number plates of five digits with a start value of Dh10,000 each will also be auctioned
They include numbers 11113, 22224, 22228, 33338, 44446, 69999 and 96666.
