Arabs asked to champion cause of Palestinians

ABU DHABI — The Palestinian Ambassador to the UAE has called upon Arab states to take serious note of his country’s issues as well as the ordeals of other countries of the Arab World.

He was addressing a ceremony organised by the Palestinian Social Committee in Abu Dhabi (PSCAD) on Monday to launch a new competition, titled ‘Esmek Ya Bladi’ (You Name my Country).

The competition invites everyone in the Arab World to write prose or poetry or to draw a painting to express Palestine as a country in the region and to show their vision of Palestine.

Stressing that the situation in Palestine was a reflection of the state of all Arab countries under the Israeli-American hegemony, Ambassador Dr Khairi Aloridi urged Arab states to take unified steps in general and specially to help their brothers in Palestine. Israel wants to divide the Arab countries into small fragmented states, he cautioned. The Ambassador pointed out that Israel was expanding its settlements in his land and seeking to stop the Iranian nuclear programme with the backing from the US. “Where are the Arab countries?” he asked.

Ammar El Kurdi, head of the Palestinian Social Committee in Abu Dhabi, said the competition ‘Esmek Ya Bladi’ aims to deepen the understanding of various Palestine issues. in the Arab world.
