Landlords have no right to snap electricity supply to the premises, he said, adding that if they do so, they will be slapped with fines, which may range between Dh5,000 and Dh20,000.
"Landlords should file dispute cases with the committee's office if they want to evict tenants. But they are by no means allowed to disconnect power from the premises for any reason."
Al Shawarib said a directive to this effect was issued by Shaikh Rashid Al Nuiami, Chairman of the Department of the Ajman Municipality and Planning (ADMP).
"Disconnecting power supply will not only affect families with children, but it will also damage food products and medicines in pharmacies and food outlets and cause great loss to their owners and community members."
