The agreements were signed during a visit by a high-level delegation led by Abdulla Al Daboos, Director-General of Emirates Post, to the three countries, as part of Emirates Post s strategy to enhance postal cooperation and explore further business opportunities in the region.
The agreements were signed by Mr Daboos and Mr Mahmoud Wakrim, Director-General of Morocco Postal Authority, in Rabat; Mr Al Haj Filai, Director-General of Tunisia Post in Tunis and Hawaderia Ganiya, Director-General of Algeria Post in Algiers.
Our agreement with the postal authorities in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria forms part of our strategy to strengthen ties with the regional postal players with the objective of upgrading mail services and boosting mutual revenues, said Mr Daboos.
With the signing of this agreement, mail and parcel services between the UAE and the three countries will be considerably enhanced. It also opens the potential for new postal alliances between us and the three countries.
In keeping with the modern trend of upgrading services through technology, the agreements offer the track-and-trace facility to allow senders and recipients to find out the status of the parcel or document electronically round the clock, added Mr Daboos.
This technology will introduce an element of safety and comfort for customers in both countries and encourage them to use our services more frequently.
As a result of the above agreements, money orders will be delivered in less than three days, backed by the track and trace facility.
The service will be available after the electronic link between the UAE and the three countries is established.
As for parcels, all air parcels will be delivered to the recipient a week after they reach the destination city.
In the case of parcels sent by surface mail, the maximum delivery time will be one month.
Emirates Post is constantly engaged in devising ways of improving customer service and raising the standards of delivery through modern technology, said Mr Daboos.
Our new agreement with Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria reflects this approach as we work towards enhancing our image at the local, regional and international levels, he added.
Those who do not have permits will be directed to return to their point of origin, the Directorate of Public Security said
