Abu Dhabi City Municipality has announced completion of landscaping projects worth Dh23 million and also distributed 1,500 fruit tree seedlings as part of 'Home Tree' initiative in Al Shahama.
The initiatives by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport - Abu Dhabi City Municipality comes as part of the Plantation Week.
The Phase II of the Landscaping Projects Value Engineering Promotion Project includes landscaping works around Hifz Al Niemaa building in Musaffah, renovating parks in Al Maqtaa, Bahia Park and Rahba Park and restoring a wall of Bani Yas Park - Women Park. The project cost Dh 10,750,000.
The Phase II also covered the city with works at Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Street, Fairground and Al Muroor areas. The project included nurturing plants, cultivating bushes in areas including Al Nahyan Camp, and replacing the walls of Khalidiya Public Park and Al Qurum Corniche Street. Plazas were also constructed at Fatima bint Mubarak Street, Sheikh Zayed Street and parts of Hamdan bin Mohammed Street. The total cost pegged at Dh 12,350,376.
Also, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport has completed four projects in the city including renovation and construction of parks in residential areas, playgrounds for children, irrigation networks, and pumping and storage stations.
Separately, in Shahama area, the municipality launched 'Home Tree Initiative'.
The team at the municipality distributed more than 1,500 fruit tree seedlings to the residents. The team gave tips to the public on ways to protect trees and educated them about the environmental and aesthetic benefits.
With such projects, the municipality aims to push its green drive to double the number of trees and preserve environment.
