A Pakistani boy drowned in the swimming pool of a residential tower in Sharjah on Saturday evening - just a day before what would have been his eighth birthday. According to the police, the incident was reported from the building Suhail Ahmed Nasser lived in with his family in Al Khan area.
As his family members spotted him struggling in the water, they rescued him and tried to revive him. After they failed, they called an ambulance. He died as he was being rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital.
The police said they were notified about the incident at 7.30pm.
The boy's parents are being interrogated to determine if there was negligence involved in his death.
This is the second instance of a child drowning in a swimming pool in two weeks.
Last week, a two-year-old girl drowned in a relative's swimming pool in Al Dhaid area.
