The two-month programme, which commenced on July1, has been designed by the Health Authority, Abu Dhabi (HAAD) to train young national cadres in leadership skills in the field of health.
The training course is in line with the country’s strategy to train and rehabilitate young nationals and to prepare them for taking over important posts, according to HAAD Director Dr Ahmed Al Mazroui.
“This summer training course will enable trainees to get acquainted with health services provided by the Authority as well as the policies and measures it adopts to ensure provision of quality healthcare to the people of Abu Dhabi,” said Saif Al Qubaisi, Director of Healthcare Services Department at HAAD. He said the targeted group includes 155 students from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), College of Medicine at the UAE University, who are sponsored by HAAD.
“The remaining 225 university students who will benefit from the programme are not sponsored by HAAD,” he added.
Out of the 225 students, 30 students will receive administrative and technical training lessons at HAAD, while 40 will be stationed at Mafraq Hospital where they will participate in various programmes.
The Shaikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) will host 40 students, 100 students will get trained at the Western Medical District and 15 at the Eastern Medical District.
The students expressed their appreciation for being allowed to participate in this programme which, they said, will familiarise them with workplace environment and health system in the emirate.
