Three women successfully managed to shoplift a stroller from a New York store until one of them realised she had forgotten her baby inside the shop.
The three women were caught on camera stealing a stroller from a Bambi Baby store in Middletown on Friday, NDTV quoted Fox News reports.
While two of the women distracted a store employee, the third one picked up a stroller and calmly walked out. Surveillance footage shows the woman walking out of the store with the stroller but leaves her baby behind.
The store owner, Enelio Ortega, shared the CCTV footage on Facebook and described the theft as "unreal". "I was devastated that someone would leave their child in a store to worry more about stealing a stroller," Orteaga was quoted as saying in CBS News.
It was revealed that at least six minutes passed before one of the three women came back for the child.
"If you need to steal for a living, that's a personal problem, that's a personal issue. But when you bring children that have no idea what's going on, that affected me. That's why I'm sharing the video as much as possible," Ortega added.
Police tracked down two of the three women who have been charged with shoplifting and conspiracy.
