Owais Shah vows to lift Karachi

Sharjah - Owais Shah, a Briton of Pakistani origin, has become the part of the struggling Karachi Kings.

Recruitment for the Pakistan Super League is an ongoing process. Some of the players are leaving mid-way to join their national duties, forcing franchises to fill in the vacant spots. Shane Watson is out with an injury while three Bangladeshi players are unavailable for rest of the season.
Azhar Mahmood and Brad Hodge, who were part of the recently concluded Masters Champions League, have joined Islamabad United. Kumar Sangakkara has joined Quetta Gladiators after helping his MCL side Gemini Arabians to lift the title.
Owais Shah, a Briton of Pakistani origin, has become the part of the struggling Karachi Kings. While talking to Khaleej Times, Owais said: "Starting Pakistan Super League is a great initiative by Pakistan Cricket Board and it is well received everywhere."
On the impact of PSL on Pakistani youth, Owais said: "Since the tournament has big names like Kevin Pietersen, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and Shakibal Hasan, they would inspire young Pakistani cricketers.
"Their presence will be great inspiration for the youngsters. The cricket-mad country can unearth new Imran Khans, Javed Miandads, Wasim Akrams, Waqar Younises and last but not the least Shahid Afridis.
"It is the best platform to groom players and attract them to healthy activities. The PSL may help to solve the terror-related problems in Pakistan."
When asked about the PSL's return to Pakistan, Owais said: "There will be nothing like that if Pakistan solves security issues and stage a tournament like this at home side. It will be a real boost to the game in the country."
Owais, who has played in Indian Premier League, promised to try and help Karachi qualify.
