Herald The Dawn clinches maiden win on second start

Herald The Dawn strode to a commanding victory for his maiden win in only his second start for Godolphin Racing.
The two-year-old New Approach colt from Hymn Of The Dawn, clinched the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Naas, Ireland, on Monday.
Trained by JS Bolger, Herald The Dawn, finished 2 1/4 lengths ahead of London, trained by AP O'Brien and ridden by Joseph O'Brien.
Herald The Dawn chased the leaders and took closer order in third under two furlongs out. He then stayed on strongly under Kevin Manning to lead the final 100 yards and sprinted away to a fine finish in the seven-furlong contest.
Sunglider, trained by DK Weld and the ride of Pat Smullen, was third, half length behind London.
In his previous run, which was also his debut, Herald The Dawn had finished second in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (Colts & Geldings) Maiden (Plus 10 Race), also at Naas.
Also at Naas, the M Halford-trained Al Qahwa, with Shane Foley on board, was finished second in a thrilling Birdcatcher Day 18 October Race (Plus 10 Race).
Al Qahwa, who had won the Irish Stallions Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Plus 10 Race) in Leopardstown last month, broke well towards the far side and soon took the lead. The two-year-old Fast Company colt from Cappuccino was strongly pressed over one furlong out but kept on well until headed on line.
Al Qahwa lost out by a neck to Redstaroverchina, trained by Edward Lynam and ridden by Pat Smullen. The GM Lyons-trained Blood Moon, the ride of Gary Carroll was third. Godolphin's Mimicking, partnered by Bolger and Manning, finished fifth in the race run over six furlongs.
Al Qahwa had finished third on debut in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden (Plus 10 race) at Naas in June.
Godolphin Racing had a second and third place finish at Nottingham. Liberality, trained by John Gosden and the ride of Robert Havlin, was second in the Watch Racing UK Today Just £ 10 Maiden Fillies' Stakes, while Kazziana was third in the same race.
Marxian, the charge of Andre Fabre and ridden by Mathieu Pelletan, was third in the Prix Club Marmara Madina 4M/Maroc-Marrakech (Maiden), in Clairefontaine, France.
Meanwhile, at Chester, UK, Roaring Forties won the Britvic Nursery Handicap. Roaring Forties is trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick.
At Monmouth Park, USA, Pin Up came in second for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin and jockey Paco Lopez, in the Maiden Special Weight.
Lucknow, trained by Thomas Albertrani with Jose L Ortiz on board, was third in the Allowance Race in Saratoga, USA.
