Sixteen full time coaches were certified by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) after a week long course conducted by Shuttle Time Dubai this week at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The course was held as part of the programmes and activities following the arrangement between the BWF and Dubai Sports Council, the pinnacle of which is the hosting of the Dubai World Superseries Finals in Dubai each December from 2014-2017. With this latest batch of trainers moving a gear up in their careers, over 30 coaches have graduated in the first ever badminton coaching courses in Dubai.
After 14 school teachers received their accreditation last month, this course focused on coaches from academies and clubs across Dubai.
The 13 men and three women learnt the principles of coaching; performance and movement; skill acquisition; techniques and tactics. The coaches represented badminton clubs and academies in Dubai, including Family Badminton Club; RB Academy; Dubai Badminton; Friday Smashers; India Club; Play to Win; Pro-Academy; Professional Sports Academy, and Prime Star Sports.
Dubai Badminton development manager Jaffer Ebrahim, said: "The level of interest shown in badminton by the community is quite incredible. Our project to extend the benefits of the sport right across the Emirate."
