Kerala CM to inaugurate New Indian School in Sharjah

Sharjah - The New Sharjah Indian School located in the Juwaiz area of Sharjah near Sajaa is coming up in a one millions square feet land.

Easing the severe pressure for space and admissions in the existing Sharjah Indian School, the largest Indian community school in Sharjah, a new Sharjah Indian School is getting ready for inauguration on December 22 by the new Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan.
The New Sharjah Indian School located in the Juwaiz area of Sharjah near Sajaa is coming up in a one millions square feet land donated by the Sharjah Ruler and UAE Supreme Council Member, Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.
While the existing Sharjah Indian School will retain all the girl students there, the New Sharjah Indian School will accommodate the existing boy students from the old school and take more boy students in the new premises. In the process, seats pressure in the existing school will be eased. The two schools will work separately as a boys and girls schools, according to officials of Indian Association Sharjah, which manages the largest Indian community school in Sharjah.
The new school premises with 160 classrooms will be inaugurated on December 22, 2016 by the Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, who is making his first visit to the UAE after assuming the chief minister ship of the state -- home to large number of Keralite expatriates in the UAE.  The CBSE English curriculum school caters largely to the Keralite community in the UAE.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Advocate YA Rahim, President of Indian Association Sharjah, which manages the school. Indian School Sahrjah said the new school project has been going on for one and half years.
"The work was granted for Dh 44.3 million contract. It is ready for opening for the next academic year. About 90 per cent of the work is completed. The boy students from Sharjah Indian school will be shifted to the new school and we will have more space for girls," said Biju Soman, General Secretary of IAS. "Now the school is running on shift system for the first and second classes and the shift systemw ill cease from next academic year. About 4000 new students will be able to get admission in the new school as well as the existing school."
The inauguration date was fixed as per the convenient date of the Kerala Chief Minister and a public programme will be held in the existing Indian School premises after a formal inaugural function in the New Sharjah Indian School, Biju Soman added. He said the first phase of the school project is ready for inauguration on December 22, and that it can accommodate around 6000 new students in Sharjah.
"For two years we could not give any new admissions in the Sharjah Indian School, which is already under pressure for space. The New Sharjah Indian School will accommodate 12,000 students, when the two phases are completed. In the first phase, it will accommodate 6000 students for the next academic year," Rahim told KT.
"One million square feet of land has been given on a nominal lease by the Sharhah Ruler, HH Dr Sultan, About 160 new class rooms are ready in the new school premises. We have to speed up admission procedures online for 6000 students before the new academic year," Rahim said, adding that work on the second phase of the New Sharjah Indian School will begin soon after the inauguration of the first phase.
"Indian School Sharjah, where 9000 plus students are enrolled is currently the biggest Indian community school in the Emirate. After completing the entire project, more than 20,000 students can study in the Indian Schools. However, Indian School Sharjah and New Sharjah Indian School are two different entities with different licenses," he clarified.
Thanking the generosity of Sharjah Ruler, Raheem and Soman said the Sharjah Indian school was originally started with limited facilities for 800 students and the gradual expansion in different phases was made possible due to the regular support and generosity of the Sharjah ruler who always welcome new initiatives in the field of education for the community.
