Faisal Al Tunaiji, member of the Federal National Council (FNC) and Chairman of the Youth Parliamentarian Forum, an affiliate of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), participated in the celebrations organised by the IPU in Geneva to observe the International Day for Democracy.
The event was also attended by youth parliamentarians representing world parliaments, and a number of students.
Al Tunaiji stressed the importance of youth and women participation in the parliament in line with the policies of the UAE leadership to boost democracy and participation in decision-making and development.
He underlined that the UAE adopts an integrated approach to democracy so that development and economic progress, as well as social and cultural aspects, go alongside political empowerment. "The UAE occupies an advanced ranking internationally due to a combination of these factors," he added.
