The Global Women's Forum kicked off in Dubai on Tuesday, marking the first time the Forum has been held in this region.
Speaking at the official opening, Queen Rania said the Arab world represents many examples of powerful women in science, politics, business and arts among others.
"Women are no longer limited by a cocoon. A society's expectation of its women will determine its growth and success."
She said Islam gives women rights, status and choices in society and the UAE perfectly embodies these rights in their women.

More than 2,000 thought leaders and decision makers from both the private and public sectors around the world have arrived in Dubai to advance the global dialogue on women's participation, workplace diversity and gender balance over the next two days at Global Women's Forum Dubai.
The event is taking place at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai from Feb.23-24. 

The forum is being held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and is led by Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women Establishment and wife of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the UAE.kelly@khaleejtimes.com
