Abu Dhabi General Services Company reveals 87 per cent of the work is complete

Work on Dh4 billion Shaikh Shakhbut Medical City has been going on as planned and will be completed by the beginning of the fourth quarter of next year.
Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has revealed that 87 per cent of the works has now been completed and it is in preparation for the handover to Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) next year.

Number of beds in each section > 732 hospital beds, including two royal and 36 VIP suites, > 424 beds for post-operation inpatients > 120 hospital beds in the maternity and infant ward > 32 ICU beds in the medical department > 30 cardiac ICU beds in the cardiovascular department > 24 cardiac ICU beds in the surgery department > 20 beds in the burn treatment department > 26 neonatal ICU beds > 18 beds in the labour department

This comes as part of Musanada's efforts to realise the vision of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and implement the directions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to provide high quality healthcare services as part of the objectives of Abu Dhabi Plan and in line with best international health standards in order to satisfy the needs of individuals and the community at large.
"This leading landmark is translation of Abu Dhabi government's attention to human health as man is considered the cornerstone in the development process," said Ali Al Haj Al Mehairbi, Musanada's acting executive director - building construction management division. The medical city includes a number of specialised surgeries, such as vascular, burn, trauma, chest, orthopedic, reconstructive and infant. Once completed, the medical city will become the top medical facility in the UAE in the field of advanced burn treatment.
More than 440 doctors and 1,800 nurses will run the medical facility, in order to cater for patients' specialised healthcare needs. The medical city, located at Al Mafraq area in Abu Dhabi, stretches over 300 thousand square metres and includes parking facilities that can accommodate approximately 1,660 vehicles. It consists of several buildings, including the main hospital building comprising 4 towers, external clinics building, utility buildings and electricity and air conditioning plants, and it has two helipads and large external landscapes carefully designed following a specialised study to provide an appropriate healing environment.
Al Mehairbi pointed out the project, which kicked off in 2011, was designed in line with highest international standards and criteria and will deploy state-of-the-art medical equipment in order to meet health requirements and environmental sustainability.
The medical city, including the four towers and the various facilities, is designed and equipped with environmentally friendly equipment and systems in line with Abu Dhabi government's tendency calling for optimal utilisation of natural resources.
