The Ripe Night Market held a pop-up event on Thursday at BurJuman Centre in a bid to give residents access to fresh produce and to provide a fun event.
The market offered the community a chance to get homemade fashion and crafts, take in folk music and buy fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy products.
A favoured activity for families and individuals, the Ripe Market focused on providing individuals with all they need to lead a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle, and function as a community hub where people can interact in a fun, informal environment.
In addition to mounds of organic kale and locally produced eggs, the market consisted of 30 artisan stalls focusing on items made in the UAE. One such vendor, Child of the Tropics, sold locally made bikinis and beach bags, while Wild Wood sold wood sunglasses with frames sourced from nature. Becky Balderstone, owner and founder, Ripe Market, said: "Ripe Market has always been about promoting a healthy lifestyle and educating the community about the benefits of organic food. Expanding our market's reach, by way of BurJuman Centre, is an exciting step for us."
Ela Eldem, Marketing Manager, BurJuman Centre said: "We're very pleased to offer services and entertainment to give the community more places to gather and access fresh produce, local arts and crafts and entertainment." The next pop-up market will be held on September 17 from 5pm to 10pm.
