Shoaib Malik announced that he would be replaced by Sri Lankan legend Kumara Sangakkara as the Karachi Kings captain in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League.
"I am very happy to announce that Kumar Sangakkara will be the new captain of the team. Our main aim is to win the tournament for Karachi Kings," Malik said at a meet and greet session with the Karachi Kings in Dubai on Thursday.

Malik is the second PSL player to step down from captaincy after Shahid Afridi.
The maverick all rounder, after being retained by Peshawar Zalmi at the draft for the PSL 2 on Wednesday, announced that West Indies all rounder Darren Sammy would be the new captain of the team.
Under Malik, Karachi Kings finished fourth in the five-team league and lost the Eliminator in PSL 1.
"We all know what Sangakkara is capable of. I am confident that the team will do very well under him in the next tournament," Malik said.
"He is obviously such a big name. I will be very happy to play under a great cricketer like Sangakkara next season.
"And yes, I am not the captain anymore, but this is my team. I am really passionate about this team," the former Pakistan captain added.
Malik then welcomed West Indies superstar Chris Gayle, who was also present on the occasion, to the Karachi Kings.
"Welcome to our team, Chris. We are delighted to have you in our team. Your batting has made all the  leagues successful. I am sure PSL will benefit from you and our team will obviously be so much better with you," Malik said.

While everybody was showering him with praise, the flamboyant Gayle said it would be unfair to call the Karachi Kings a one-man team.
"First of all, thank you for picking me in the Karachi Kings team. But I just want to say that this team is not all about Chris Gayle. All the players will be important for the team. We should respect every player. It's a team game. It's one team with one goal," the 37-year-old opening batsman said.
"Karachi has 20 million people. Well, that's a huge fan base. I am sure Karachi Kings will be a huge success. And all our players will contribute to make it a successful team."
Ever since the T20 game began to flourish, Gayle became an even bigger star in world cricket. But the Jamaican believes his contributions to the game haven't been confined to just T20 cricket.
"I know people call me a T20 entertainer. Yes, it's true that I love to entertain people with my style of cricket because people pay good money to watch us play. So I feel it's my responsibility as well to entertain them," Gayle said.
"But people tend to forget what I have done in Test cricket and one-day cricket.
"I am an entertainer in all formats of the game. I am among the highest Test century makers in the history of West Indies cricket.
"I have got two triple centuries. I believe I have done my bit for the game," said Gayle, who has 7214 runs in 103 Test matches with 15 centuries and 9221 runs in 269 ODI matches with 22 centuries.
