Yalla Pickup, a mobile application and web-based solution to order pickup trucks to move large consignments, has received Dh1 million in funding from its strategic partner, The Box, a provider of self-storage and transportation of goods services in the UAE.

Catering to both businesses and individual customers, Yalla Pickup allows a smartphone, Android or iOS, or Web user to transport large-sized valuable goods by booking the nearest truck from office or home.

The startup arrived on the scene when Sheraa, a launchpad for aspiring entrepreneurs in the UAE, unveiled Yalla Pickup as one of the 10 successful startups in its inaugural accelerator.

The service is now becoming popular with customers wanting to avoid the problems of searching for a safe and reliable vehicle and driver to transport furniture or large objects that are purchased online, move houses or deliver a large consignment to a client.

Since its launch in 2016, Yalla Pickup has registered over 50 businesses and 300 individual customers. Growth is on the rise and the app-based business has grown by 200 per cent month on month since January 2017. - Wam
