Gemological Science International (GSI) presented a breakfast seminar on 'The Successful American Retail Strategies' at DMCC Dubai on September 12.
The seminar was presented in collaboration with Preferred Jewelers. Andie Weinman, founder of Preferred Jewelers, addressed the select crowd on 'Proven Successful American Retail Strategies'.
Announcing this in a press briefing Weinman said she was extremely pleased with the response of the participants during the seminar. "It goes without saying that GSI has come to Dubai with proven retail strategies that come with a local approach, especially for the Dubai jewellery industry," she added.
GSI is one of the largest independent commercial gemological laboratory for global diamond and coloured stone trade. With the mission to turn innovative ideas into reality, GSI organised a prestigious gathering of the diamond industry to discuss the various problems faced in the online jewellery outlet and also to address the audience on the raising concerns of synthetic diamonds. GSI in the past has taken active steps to impart industry knowledge on detection of synthetic diamonds by conducting seminars led by its expert research and development team.
Weinman, the key speaker of the event, has 35 years of experience in the jewellery industry and she discussed the best industry practices of the jewellery retail business. "The retail industry landscape is changing at an incredible speed with new innovations and developments; many old concepts are not applicable to today's industry. Hence to break through the paradigm and recreate your vision in the jewellery market for the future, it is an indispensable need to build, grow and innovate. Another rising concern in the industry is the rise in the number of deceitful practice of synthetic diamond mixing," she said.
Weinman said that it is imperative for retailers to understand that the trade has to move in tune with the changes in the retail platform.
"We want the participants to understand that we are doing what works today not what used to work yesterday. As the retail experts, we will guide you with your retail marketing efforts. You will be part of a much bigger entity by partnering with us," she added.
The seminar provided a unique value proposition.
"Combine what works in other retail industries with our own industry best practices. This will help to get the best results with the best return on investment. During the seminar various other issues faced by the retailers were addressed including the need to shift the older mindset since what worked before does not work now," she said. -business@khaleejtimes.com
