Aldous Huxley once said that "Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure," and that rings true since we as a society have always had a penchant for things that can go fast. While owning one of these is only but a dream, seeing them in the flesh is sometimes more than enough. And in a city such as Dubai, seeing some of these hypercars is just a matter of cruising down Jumeirah Beach Road on the weekends.
Aston-Martin One-77 (220.7 mph)
Everybody knows of Aston Martin and its fabled association with 007, James Bond. They're also known for producing the Aston Martin One-77 which one can easily spot serving under Dubai Police.
Pagani Huayra (231 mph)
Pagani is another name coming from Italy that isn't Ferrari of Lamborghini. The Modena manufacturer gave birth to the Huayra back in 2012 and from there it has gained numerous accolades such as Top Gear's Hypercar of the Year for 2012 and was the fastest car in the Top Gear Test Track. Production was limited to 100 units however and all has been sold off to lucky owners.
Zenvo ST1 (233 mph)
Despite an infamous history, it cannot be denied that this Danish number is one of the fastest around. The looks might take a little time to get used to however.
McLaren F1 (240 mph)
Unlike every other car in this list that uses some sort of turbo kit or supercharger; the McLaren F1 achieved the fastest car record using a naturally aspirated BMW V12 with just pure raw power. Today it is one of the most highly sought after cars in the world. Notable owners include SpaceX founder Elon Musk and the Sultan of Brunei.
Koenigsegg CCR (241 mph)
The CCR was once the fastest car in the world after attaining a top speed of 241.63 mph on the Nardo Ring in Italy. A lot of cars have come since to beat the record but the CCR put the Swedish company in the map for petrolheads.
Saleen S7 Twin Turbo (248 mph)
As if the regular S7 wasn't fast enough, the S7 Twin Turbo is a prime of example of the logic: 'faster than fast' because after all, when your 7.0 litre V8 supercar isn't thrilling enough, you bolt on two turbochargers on it.

The exterior is a heavily modified Lotus Exige body with everything else being proudly made in the USA. The entire body including the wheels are made of carbon fibre mated with a 1,244 bhp, 7.0L twin turbocharged V8. Now that's a lot of power.
Koenigsegg One:1 (280 mph)
What comes in your mind when Sweden is mentioned? Probably Volvos, H&M and IKEA. But the Swedes also have another thing they are proud of - Koenigsegg. While the number above is only 'claimed' by the car manufacturer, the One:1 is already the most powerful car in the world with an engine that is capable of 1,342 bhp.
