Often it seems worthwhile to return selfless service with kind rather than cash. So, when a Saudi man learnt that their housemaid's daughter was getting married, he decided to fly all the way to Indonesia.
Ahmed Al-Ghamdi is inspiring netizens and bringing a smile on their face after his kind reciprocation surfaced. Saudi Gazette quoted Al-Ghamdi as saying in Arabiya.net, "She (the maid) has a pleasant spirit and is very skillful in her work. When she invited me to attend her daughter's wedding, I didn't hesitate a second. I shared with them their happy occasion in the city of Bogor."
However, the Saudi family shares a familial relationship with their maid and have visited Indonesia 12 times. "This maid usually provides me and my family all household services when we travel to Indonesia. This includes cooking and managing household matters. This is my 12th visit to this beautiful country," Al-Ghamdi said.
Moreover, unlike a flying visit to give their blessings for the newly wedded couple, Al-Ghamdi took part in all wedding ceremonies. "The wedding ceremonies in Indonesia begin in the morning. These ceremonies are very simple in their details. The venue usually can accommodate no more than 50 people and the ceremony continues until 8.00 pm. During this period, the guests congratulate the families of the bride and bridegroom," Al-Ghamdi added.
According to reports, Al-Ghamdi's video from the wedding celebration was criticised by Saudi activists as it showed him distributing money to children. "It was our driver who shot the video. I joined the families of the bride and bridegroom in their happiness and distributed cash to the kids. My intention was to make the kids happy on this occasion," clarified Al-Ghamdi.
