The Emirates Mars Mission - Hope Probe, a project launch by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), has announced its Teachers Ambassador Programme that will equip teachers to shape the next generations of engineers and scientists in space science.
The programme also aims at launching initiatives in collaboration with the Emirates Mars Mission and various educational institutes in the country with the goal of reviewing school curricula. The programme will also organise workshops for the teachers and introduce space camps.
The announcement for the UAE teaching community came during an introductory day on the programme, held at the Planetarium at the Sharjah Centre for Astronomy and Space Sciences in University City in Sharjah.
The day was attended by a large number of teachers from various schools in the UAE.
The introductory day included an overview of the Emirates Mars Mission presented by Omran Sharaf, Emirates Mars Mission Project Manager at MBRSC, who outlined the main goals of the programme.
Sharaf also introduced teachers to the scientific goals of the project. The teachers also received a presentation in the planetarium and a scientific tour on the existing educational stations.
Sharaf said: "We are fully aware of the leading role played by teachers in encouraging students to follow new domains and fields, as well as creating a nurturing environment for student innovation, creativity and aspiration. Therefore, we consider each participating teacher to be an ambassador in their respective schools, and a major contributor in educating and informing students on the future goals and present golden opportunities of being a part of this ground breaking mission, the Emirates Mars Mission." - Wam
