A total of 12 paramedics were tested positive for Covid-19 in Dubai, said the Dubai Corporation Ambulance Services chief on Thursday.
Speaking during a virtual press conference organised by the Dubai Media Office, Khalifa Hassan Aldrai, the executive director of Dubai Corporation Ambulance Services said: "There are a total of 1,200 paramedics working on the frontlines at the moment - of which, 12 have tested positive for coronavirus and five have fully recovered. They are now back to work.
"The remaining seven are still undergoing treatment."
Aldrai also announced that Dubai Ambulance service vehicles will be converted to mobile testing centres with in-built testing facilities and trained paramedics on board.
Two such Dubai Ambulance vehicles have been prepared for this service. Later, these vans will be handed over to the Dubai Health Authority for testing of swabs.
"These ambulances have been specially prepared so we can reach elderly persons," said AlDrai.
