This time also millions of Non-Resident Indians could not participate in the general elections in India, the largest democracy in the world, as they cannot vote from the country they reside in. There have been so many discussions and promises including interventions from the apex court to include NRIs too in the electoral process. None of the political parties are serious about this subject as they fear external intervention will change the course of verdict and there is no unity among non-residents on issues affecting them. I feel the Indian government is giving a cold shoulder to NRIs. Thousands of NRIs are losing their jobs and relocating to India and nobody cares about them. What we are ignoring is the concept of 'union is strength'.
