“I’m truly pleased to see this strong support for the game,” Blatter told newsmen during his tour to the new premises of the FA here on Monday.
Regarding the financial position of the FIFA, Blatter said 70 per cent of their revenues come from TV rights contracts, 25 per cent from the sponsorships and 5 per cent from miscellaneous sources.
Blatter said they will pay $200,000 to all national associations this year over and above ‘Goal Project’.
“Our financial position is good, but the FIFA is not a very rich organisation,” he said with a smile.
“We spend 70 per cent of our income on developing football and hosting different competitions plus other administrative affairs,” he clarified.
Meanwhile, Blatter praised the hard work of the UAE Football Association and the impressive future plans to promote the game.
He commented: “This is a step forward in the right direction,” he said.
“I have been following up the development of the UAE football through the participation of the youth and junior national teams in the respective World Cups finals in Egypt and Nigeria.
“Your players were impressive and I’m pleased to know that the senior national team have advanced to the AFC Asian Cup finals in Doha. It’s great news and deserves appreciation.
“The UAEFA is using modern technology in the management of its affair and I believe in technology as an important and necessary factor for the progress of the game,” he said.
Blatter was received by Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, chairman of the UAEFA along with the FA board members on behalf of Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Honourary President of the FA.
Al Rumaithi briefed the world football chief about the plans and achievements of the UAEFA saying that both the U-20 and U-17 squads have established strong presence in the 2010 FIFA youth and juniors World Cups finals in Egypt and Nigeria which represents a positive indication for the country’s football.
