A 46-year-old vendor, who inappropriately touched a 4-year-old girl in a grocery, was sentenced to three months in jail and deportation by the Court of First Instance on a molestation charge.
The vendor, an Indian, claimed during questioning that he was tempted by the devil.
The arrest was made on November 26, 2016, shortly after the incident that took place in Hatta.
The girl, an Emirati, said she went with her friend to the grocery near her parents' house to buy some juice.
"I was near the freezer when he touched me. I slapped him on his face".
The little girl ran out and directly informed her mother.
She showed the investigators how the man touched her.
She underwent a psychological examination by a specialist at the Family and Juvenile Prosecution. That investigation concluded the state she was in suggested she was molested by the defendant.
When arrested and confronted with what the girl was telling, the defendant admitted he did touch her twice, claiming that the devil tempted him to do that.
