FRIDAY MARKS MEXICO'S Independence Day and the UAE's Latin restaurants are the perfect place to celebrate. Some are offering deals, some aren't, but at these top five choices you're always going to have a good time.
1) All you can eat and drink at BU!
In collaboration with the Mexican Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the capital's BU! has put together a set menu, including classic feasting plates; Mexican flag flautas, traditional soups, quesadillas and churros. Those who buy a round of Mexican spirits will also be entered into a Pinata style draw with a chance to win candy treats and prizes. Mexican nationals get their first drink on the house, providing you show proof of ID. The set menu is available until September 17.

2) Opening in the nick of time
The Atrium dining complex at Al Habtoor City in Dubai opens tomorrow night and situated at its heart is Mexican and Latin eatery Zoco. Chef Jimmy Rojas Lopez will be serving up a menu made for fiesta style sharing. Think small plates with big flavours, from tacos and guacamole to traditional signature family recipes from the streets of Mexico.

3) A Cal-Mex twist
Hailing from The Golden State, California, Tortilla has recently launched at Festival City, Dubai.
Tortilla's menu pays homage to Mexican street food with a cool, Californian twist. The 'build your own' approach a choice of Burritos, Tacos and Quesadillas, washed down with a frozen Margarita mocktail.

4) The firm favourite
Loca has long been Dubai's number one Mexican establishment, and we all know what they do best. The fresh guacamole is always a must, but if you want to branch out, why not try the Friday brunch? This five-hour epic show is Dhs270 per person and serves up a range of dishes at both the Marine Club and new Souk Al Bahar locations.

5) Beach-side dining
Poco Loco at The Beach is more of a family-friendly joint and, right on the beach, makes for a great place to see out the night. We have to rave about the hot churros with Cajeta for afters, but there's a whole menu to peruse. Every Friday and Saturday enjoy unlimited portions of starters such as spiced chicken tinga and ceviche classico of sea bream, or main courses like chicken anticucho with amarillo cream and mini quesadillas for Dhs99 per person.
