Technology at the palm of our hands has enriched our lives, made things easier and allows us to perform transactions.
Transactions on a really larger scale, that is.
Social networking site Vero just made waves - and tracks - as it paved the way for the sale of a car.
Social media sites and apps are already being used for transactions. So, big deal...
...unless we tell you that the car that was sold was a lovely 1964 Aston Martin DB5:

The price? A whopping £825,000 (Dh37.1 million) - believed to be the biggest single in-app purchase ever.
Oh, and yes, that's the same car 007 has used in his sorties, from Sean Connery in 1964's Goldfinger...

...to Pierce Brosnan in 1995's GoldenEye...

...and Daniel Craig (in M's swan song) in 2012's SkyFall...

Anyway, the auction was made through Coys. And aside from being the largest in-app purchase, the zoomer is also the first historic car to be bought via social media.
So how did the winner (and lots of cash to spare) get the DB5? Simple; he bought the car using Apple Pay directly from the Coys profile on Vero, according to a release.
It further added that the Aston Martin DB5 was one of four automobiles exclusively listed on Vero; the others were an £800,000 Ferrari Daytona, a £400,000 Ferrari 246 Dino once owned by Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant and a £295,000 Bentley S2 Continental coupe.
And aside from the scale of the sale, what's clearer is this: we're now in a world in which you can splash out huge amount of cash with a few taps of your finger.
