Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has set up women's sports teams as part of its efforts to provide a positive and encouraging work environment for its female staff that helps achieve a balance between their professional and social lives. The move encourages women to take part in different sports activities, competitions, and training. DEWA will provide all the necessary requirements for the teams to compete and achieve good results that contribute to developing women sports in the future.
"To support its strategy and organisational vision to ensure participation of Emirati women in the development of society, and in building the nation and people, DEWA's Women's Committee has adopted a comprehensive approach since its establishment to support and develop working women personally, psychologically, professionally, educationally, and in terms of healthcare and family. DEWA takes care of its female staff and encourages them to exercise since sports and physical activities are key to a healthy lifestyle. Exercise also improves skills and capabilities, and in turn, increases contentment, happiness, and productivity," said Khawla Al Mehairi, Chairperson of DEWA's Women's Committee.
"Setting up women's sports teams supports DEWA's corporate social responsibility. The move supports and enables women, and enhances their active participation in various sporting activities, locally and internationally. It will contribute to promoting and developing a culture of women's sports in the society," added Al Mehairi.
