We still need to bat better: Lara

Leo Lions captain Brian Lara had just a brief stay out in the middle and though his side won their opening game, the West Indian legend said that there was room for improvement and the onus was on the batsmen.
"It was a very brief and I couldn't analyse and make a comment on it," Lara said about his stay.
"What I would say though from the top four of five batsmen, we need to post something a lot more to ease the pressure on the all-rounders. We have some really big hitters and we have to commend them for consolidating and getting us to a position to launch an attack in the last three or four overs. You want to do that with six or seven overs to go. The onus is on us, the guys that they call the batsmen in the team to get the majority of the runs and put the team in a winning position all the time," he added.
Leo Lions were 83 for 6 before all-rounders Johan Botha and James Franklin put them back on track. And Lara applauded their knocks. "At the 15th over, we had maybe 107 runs so to get 50 in the last five was excellent and that gave us the catalyst to go out there and perform. Maybe 10 or 15 runs less may have given a different story but Botha batted really well along with Franklin and they gave us that little chance. And we stuck it out there in the field and we bowled really well," said Lara.
