Driver jumps red light, causes major accident

Reckless driving not only puts the driver in danger, but also jeopardizes the lives of other motorists using the road, and pedestrians, if any.
A video recently posted on YouTube describes exactly why traffic rules should be taken seriously.

While the other motorists can be seen waiting patiently at the red signal, the above-mentioned car speeds through.
Details of any casualties have not yet been reported.

Recent traffic violations in UAE
The UAE Police Force has always stressed on how serious the consequences of breaking traffic rules can be.
More than 100,000 dangerous traffic offences were recorded in the first quarter of 2016 in Abu Dhabi.
Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaiaili, Acting Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said: "Exceeding maximum speed limits by more than 60kmph was one of the most dangerous offences registered during Q1 of 2016, which account for 14 per cent of the total dangerous offences; using mobile phones (up to 10 per cent); failure to fasten seat belts (up to 18per cent); the use of faulty worn-out tires (up to 8 per cent)." 
Sharjah saw a drop in red light violations after a radar modification was ordered. The number of red light violations decreased in 2015 to 23,214 as compared to 2014 which recorded 26,619 violations.
In Dubai, the Traffic Court ordered an Asian man to pay a Dh3,000 fine and suspended his driving licence for jumping a Dubai Tram signal, said Advocate-General Salah Bu Farroucha Al Felasi, Dubai Traffic Chief Prosecutor. The 32-year-old Asian's licence is suspended for 30 days.
On regulating the Tram in Dubai, the Executive Council's order No. 1 of 2014 stipulates that whoever jumps the red light at the Tram junction, without causing an accident, shall be issued a maximum fine of Dh5,000 and minimum of Dh2,000. The order also says that the faulty driver's license shall be suspended for a period not exceeding three months (with a minimum suspension period of one month).
