A 31-year-old Indian worker, who was allegedly filming women unawares at shopping centres and public places with his mobile phone, has been charged in the Court of First Instance with breaching women's modesty.
Prosecutors accused him of following unknown women, getting close to them and then filming them. The case dates back to September 30 and the last incident was reported to the Bur Dubai police.
"He was restrained by security guards at a mall at around 9.30pm on September 30, last year. A woman complained that she was in a busy mall and the defendant stood behind her and touched her several times," a policeman said.
"She screamed at him and the security guards arrested and brought him to the police office." During interrogation, the accused admitted that he snapped photos and filmed women while zooming in on specific parts of their bodies.
The police found videos of women and men he shot in public places.  A ruling is expected on February 8.
