The Abu Dhabi Cassation Court has ordered a man who was separated from his wife - because he was ill-treating her - to provide her and her two daughters a monthly financial support of Dh12,000 as well as a house.
The Arab woman had filed for divorce from her husband stressing that the man beat her almost daily, threatened her and also abused her.
The couple were married for more than four years and have two children - both aged below five.
The woman told the Abu Dhabi family court that her husband was also not providing financial support to her and her two girls.
The man denied attacking the woman, saying that she was making baseless allegations against him. The woman, however, showed the officials bruises she got from the husband's beatings. She decided not to file assault complaints against her husband but sought the court's help in getting a divorce from him as she "couldn't take it any more".
The woman also requested for custody of her two children, alimony, financial support for the children, house rent and a maid.
Both the family court of first instance and the appellate court gave custody of the two children to their mother and ordered that the husband gave her and the kids Dh6,000 monthly, provide them with a housemaid and a house.
Both the man and the woman appealed in the Court of Cassation which maintained earlier rulings but ordered the man to give Dh12,000 monthly to his ex-wife and children for all their home expenses and a house where they will stay.
