The traffic violations offences recorded by the Dubai Police via smartphones touched 13,701 traffic reports in 2016, said Brigadier Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, General Director of Smart Services Department at Dubai Police. He said that these were the number of traffic violations that were received on iOS and Android systems, through the department's 'We Are All Police' service.
Brigadier Alrazooqi said that the 'We Are All Police' service is a step towards reducing traffic offenses and road violations. The service, within the Dubai Police application, provides a smooth way for reporting such offenses by posting pictures and videos, also taking into account the legal aspects. The application has achieved positive results, thanks to the cooperation of members of the public, he added.
Explaining the working of the service, he said: " The user has to log on to the homepage of the Dubai Police Smart Applications, and click on the "We Are All Police" icon. The user has to then register himself in the application. User, then takes a picture or a video of the violation and send his report, provided that he does not do so while driving a vehicle himself."
The violations included illegally parking behind a vehicle and blocking its movement; parking in prohibited places - on pedestrian walkways, on sidewalks, in front of a fire hydrant and parking in places reserved for people with special needs or ambulance vehicles.
Brigadier Alrazooqi said that all services offered to the public have been transformed into smart services, in line with the orientations of Dubai Smart Government of initiatives for Dubai to become the world smartest city. He attributed the achievement to the ongoing efforts of the team of the General Department of Smart Services, together with the direct follow-up of the higher management of Dubai Police GHQ, in cooperation with the main general departments.
Brigadier Alrazooqi encouraged the public to use the 'We Are All Police' app, because "security is everyone's responsibility and that the participation of everyone will contribute to the implementation of the strategic objectives of Dubai Police.
