The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has started developing a number of key roads at three different areas in the Central region of the emirate against Dh42 million.
The key roads, extending over 12km, will be developed in three different areas, according to Eng Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, Chairman of RTA Sharjah, on Sunday morning.
"The new internal roads, to extend over 12km, will be developed at the cities of Maliha, Al Khatm, and Al Bataeh against Dh42 million."
The project, meant to enhance public safety and security, is in line with the directions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, he added.
"The new roads will boost the capacity of the roads of the emirate and better connect all regions and districts of the emirate, and connect them with the federal roads in the country."
All the new roads will be paved as per the latest international standards, Eng Al Suwaihi explained. "All parking spaces opposite residents' houses and nearby mosques will be paved with interlock, let alone other service supplies."
A one-way service road will be built along the Sharjah-Kalba road, he elaborated. "The two-lane 2.2km long and 7.3m wide, along with a sidewalk and green areas will cost Dh11.6 million."
A one-way road will also be built at the Khatm area, he pointed out. "The two-lane 3.7km long and 7.3m wide, with 2.5m hard shoulders, will connect the Khatm area with Maliha on one direction and the Dhaid-Madam on the other."
The project, including some internal roads, Al Suwaihi stated. "The two-lane 4.2km long and 7.3m wide, with 2.5m hard shoulders, will cost Dh24.6 million."
The Bataeh area, perfectly located between the cities of Sharjah and Al Dhaid, will have a service road as well. "The two-lane 1.5km long and 7.3m wide, with 2.5m hard shoulders, will cost Dh5.6 million.
Recently, the RTA Sharjah has started developing a number of roads in the Eastern and Central regions against Dh150 million. "The key roads, extending over 66km, are being developed in 18 different areas."
Al Zuwain said the roads would ease access to the public facilities there, including mosques, schools, parks, and alike. "The project is to meet the current and expected needs of the urban expansion," she pointed out, urging customers to reach the Call Centre 24/7 at (600525252) for feedbacks, inquiries, remarks and complaints."
