A new smart anti-fire system has begum installation in Ras Al Khaimah directly connecting all buildings with the police operations room. Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, director-general of the RAK Civil Defence, said all buildings, factories, residential and commercial towers in Ras Al Khaimah will be connected with the new system.
"The smart anti-fire system, launched by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), will be connected with the operations room of the RAK Police, in collaboration with the 'Injazat data systems'."
Lt-Col Ahmed Jassim Al Mansuri, head of civil protection and safety section at the department, said the smart system immediately and directly reports any malfunction in fire systems or alarms at all the connected entities to the operation room. "These reports are professionally dealt with in a record time so that the fire, if any, is contained before causing more human or financial damage."
"The RAK Civil Defence has started activating the new system on trial at the Al Jazirat Al Hamra where the Julphar Tower and Waldorf Astoria Hotel has been connected with the new system."
The new system will save time, money and effort, decrease the loss, and help contain the fires before spreading to adjacent premises, he added. "The department is to scan all the buildings and factories in the emirate after the end of Ramadan to ensure their readiness for connection with the operations room."
Anti-fire and smoke detectors will also be fitted in all targeted buildings as part of the mega project which will continue for 10 years, added Lt-Col Al Mansuri.
