The world has changed significantly since 1978, but one thing that remains constant is the need for news to be communicated in an honest and unbiased manner. Born on April 16, 1978, KT has given all it takes to bring the world to your doorstep. On completing 38 years of reporting news and views from the UAE and around the world, some of the prominent personalities of the country congratulate and bear testimony to the brand's stupendous growth and quality service.
True happiness lies within you
Dr Siva RVR
Happiness is an in-built phenomenon. No person, object or situation can make a person happy unless a person feels from within that he or she is happy. Happiness is something which never stays permanently. If happiness is permanent, then a particular person/ object/ situation should give us happiness all the time, which is not the case. To explain this further, a child feels happy when a toy moves. Once the child grows, the movement of the same toy doesn't give any feeling. To quote another example, a person feels happy on his or her own birthday or wedding day. But the day before and the day after, there is no sign of happiness.
If a person wills, he or she can remain happy even without any reason. For example, a baby smiles many times for no reason. So, as long as we keep looking out for a tool or technique which can make us happy, we can never access the state of happiness.
The three things that people externally associate happiness with are 1. People or relationships 2. Objects and 3. Situations.
People remain unhappy due to the expectation that another person should behave in a particular manner or an object should be in a particular shape/ shade/ placed in a particular way or a situation should shape up in their favour. The moment a person generates expectation, it will result in fear because nature always follows the theory that "Every cause has a particular effect and every effect has a specific cause".
Therefore, fear becomes the effect of expectation and in turn expectation is the cause of fear. This is applicable universally.
The only way to come out of this loop is either to accept the effect produced by the cause or uproot the cause itself through awareness. For example, If a person takes spicy food late night (cause), he or she will have acidity the following morning (effect).
Solution:
Accept the effect:
Admitting within that acidity (effect) was due to having spicy food previous night (cause) so that he or she can find a solution for acidity
Uproot the cause through awareness:
When a person feels like having spicy food in the night (cause), through awareness, understand that having spicy food in the night will result in acidity the following morning (effect) and avoid eating spicy food the previous night

I still remember that day April 16, 1978.
KT had invited me to see the start of the Press for the inaugural issue. The sound of the machines was drowned in the applause from the assembled group. We left after baklawa and khawa. As I was preparing for bed, I got a frantic call from KT office. My half page BMW colour Ad had a problem and since there was no time to rectify it, they asked if thet could run it in Black and White!
As Marshall McLuhan very aptly put it 'The Medium is the Message' - as the sun rose the 'landscape' of the UAE changed forever.
Thank you KT for 38 years of Wonderful Memories.
