Your Emirates ID can now get you visa online

Abu Dhabi - Applicants for visit visas are advised to apply through the ministry website or its smartphone app.

The Ministry of Interior has announced that citizens, residents and other stakeholders can apply for a short-term visit visas using their Emirates ID.
The applicants are advised to apply through the ministry website or its smartphone app, which are available round the clock.
Lt. Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari, Executive Director of the MoI's Smart Government Programmes, underlined the ministry's keenness to open new horizons for creativity and to develop more efficient ways for the delivery of government services.
Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari said: "This approach is in response to the directives of the higher leadership, which calls upon the government sector to embrace creativity and innovation, because a creative government is an advanced government that forges ahead with great strides."
He urged customers to follow the MoI's media campaign, designed to promote awareness and introduce its e-services across the various media and social networking sites.
He added: "These campaigns aim to acquaint the public with the different means to take advantage of these services, either via the ministry's website or its smart phone application. They also aim to achieve the coveted goals of the UAE government of providing distinguished and highly efficient and effective services, as well as to reduce the amount of customers that visit governmental centres by 80 per cent by the year 2018, thus enabling everyone to complete their transactions from home through their smart phones quickly and with ease."
