The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Service (DCAS) received a total of 717 calls on New Year's Eve from 5pm of December 31, 2015 to 5am of January 2016, a report released by the DCAS has revealed.
The figure is more than what the DCAS received during last New Year's Eve when the department received 679 calls.
Khalifa bin Drai, executive director of the DCAS, said the response rate of 75 per cent of the reports received were less than 8 minutes - the average world response time in such emergencies.
The good planning and deployment of ambulances in the vicinity of the Burj Khalifa have been cited as good reasons to respond to all calls quickly and handling each case based on its degree of injury.
Bin Drai said the calls they received regarding injuries ranged between minor and moderate, making clear that the largest portion of injuries were reported from people, who were in fact already suffering from diseases, such as shortness of breath.
