According to a senior police official in Fujairah the incident took place on Thursday at 5am when a taxi driver called the police saying two young men had intercepted his cab and dragged a woman passenger out of the cab, bundled her in their vehicle and drove off towards Kalba city.
On being alerted, the police reached the site from where she was abducted and it appeared that the suspect and his accomplice drove off to Kalba. The officers then coordinated with the Kalba Police and were able to nab the duo in less than an hour after the incident was reported. The suspects - identified as Y.M.S (31) and A.S.M (28) - were arrested and the woman rescued. The police are investigating the matter further as the motive of the suspects is still unclear.
Brigadier Humaid Mohammed Al Yamahi, Director-General of Police operations, lauded the vigilance of the CID officers for their dedication in performing their duties and the quick action they had taken in tracking down and catching the two suspects and released the woman from their clutches.
Fujairah Police also appreciated Kalba police of Sharjah for cooperation in the operation.
