To help victims of human trafficking - both women and men - Dubai Police Human Trafficking Crimes Monitoring Centre, in cooperation with the General Department, has introduced first of its kind smart application to combat the menace that affects the society.
Brig. Dr Mohammed Murr, Director of General Department for Human Rights, said that the service will help human trafficking victims to report through the smart app so that the police officials could reach out and provide them with assistance, including the legal support.

 VICTIMS TOLD: You are not alone

He said that the Dubai Police always take care of sex abuse victims by giving them their legal rights, as part of the programme " Not alone" which deals with the help of the victims who are outside the shelters and they have relatives living within the state.
Col. Al Jamal said: "We seeks to make the victims 'ambassadors of the cause' in their home countries," adding that a number of innovative programmes will be used for the first time in the plan which also seeks to expand its reach overseas.
According to Col. Al Jamal, human trafficking in persons is a cross-border and transnational crime that is carried out in a country of origin, a country of transit and a country of destination.
Dubai Police have also launched a initiative named 'Protecting You Makes Us Happy' "which aims to increase the happiness of the victims and to make them aware of their rights. He stressed that combating human trafficking is a top national priority for the wise leaders of the UAE.
How to seek help
Victims are urged to enter personal data, ID number and e-mail address, and the type of required assistance. The person will then receive a confirmation message along with a reference number, which ensures that the complaint has reached at the hands of the police.
Brig Murr added that residents can also alert the police via  e-mail htccc@dubaipolice.gov.ae and the hotline 8005005 to report crimes related to human trafficking.
He noted that the initiative is in line with the core approaches pursued by the UAE's National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, as this efforts resulted in a drop of victims from 37 victims in 2012 to 13 victims in 2015.
Brig Murr said that the UAE is one of the leading counties who has adopted a number of initiatives to fight the crime in all its forms.
He added that the tireless efforts of UAE leadership led to the decline in the number of human trafficking in Dubai, due to a set of plans adopted by the Dubai Police, represented by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and General Department for human rights.
The Dubai Police have provided training to government as well as private sector officials involved in combating human trafficking, and designed a joint integrated mechanisms to reduce this crime in  addition to adopting a set of studies to analyse this crime.
Col. Dr. Sultan Al Jamal, the director of human trafficking monitor centre, said: "We are eager to open all means of communication between Dubai and the public so that they can communicate with police either in person or by telephone or hotline centre, fax or e-mail", adding that awareness booklets have been distributed at all police stations in Dubai.
