Dubai — A 31-year-old driver stood trial in the Court of First Instance on Monday for allegedly raping a cleaner as she working at his employer’s villa.
The Indian driver is believed to have taken advantage of the fact that the villa’s owner and his wife were away at the time of incident to force himself on the maid.
The Filipina cleaner said in the prosecution investigation that the incident happened after 4.45pm on July 5 last year when she went to the villa. Only the guard was present at the villa. “As I was making the bed upstairs, the defendant came and told me to sit. Before I could realise what he had in mind, he pushed me and raped me.”
He threatened her to not tell anyone about the incident, she claimed.
The maid told the investigator she did not scream for help as she felt scared.
A policeman told the prosecutor that the complainant reported the incident at Jebel Ali police station on July 6.
“She claimed that the accused raped her in a bedroom on the first floor.”
The defendant was arrested shortly later.
According to the Criminal Evidence Department’s report, semen traces were lifted off a bed sheet seized from the room where the alleged incident took place.
