An Emirati toddler who got locked inside his parents' car was rescued by the Ajman Civil Defence on Sunday night. A top official told Khaleej Times that they were notified about the two-year-old being trapped inside the car in Al Rawdah area at 11.55pm.
Colonel Mustafa Sultan Al Ali, director of fire stations department, said a team of civil defence personnel reached the site "in a record time" and found the toddler inside the car. They used their tools to break open the door and rescued the baby. The team ensured that the boy was in a good health condition and handed him over to his parents.
Lt.-Col Al Ali pointed out that leaving children alone in a car is very dangerous - especially during the summer - because the high temperature increases the pressure of oxygen in the cabin. This leads to the release of toxic gas from the seats and dashboard of the car.
"High temperatures could even cause a fire in the radiator when a car is left running idle," he added.
