Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday the only agenda of his government is uplift and progress of the common man and hoped the people would overthrow those elements who are creating hurdles in the development of the country.
Addressing a gathering as he performed the ground-breaking of Havelian-Thakot motorway in Mansehra, which is being carried out under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the prime minister said his current mass contact campaign has no political purpose as is being alleged by the opposition.
"I want to meet the people and tell them how we are dedicated to innumerable projects for building a prosperous and developed Pakistan where people are beneficiaries of these efforts," he remarked.
The prime minister said that he had rejected the recommendations by the energy regulating authority to increase prices of petroleum products. "There will be no hike in prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene during May," he said.
He said the motorway project would reduce five-hour journey from Mansehra to Burhanpur linking Peshawar-Islamabad-Lahore motorway to only 90 minutes after completion of this project.
The prime minister reminded the people of several other development projects in energy and communication sectors undertaken by the PML-N government.
The 120km section of the motorway, which starts from Havelian, passes through Abbottabad, Mansehra, Shinkiari, and ends at Thakot, will be completed in 42 months at a cost of Rs134 billion, according to Radio Pakistan.
